WildStar
Name: Eris Volare
Alias: Solarfly
Species: Cassian
Sex: Female
Age: 25
Class: Esper
Occupation: Scientist for The Royal Collegium (with an emphasis on a well-balanced combination of zoology and biology, mixed in with some archaeology and a splash of astronomy, out of pure intellectual interest)
Equipment: Scan-Bot, Psyblade, COMM, data slate
Family:
Father: Marsellus
Mother: Arkein
Lineage: Highborn -- Able to trace her lineage to one or more of the Great Luminai Houses, and therefore has trace amounts of Eldan blood
Physical Description:
Known for her distinctive features, including her fiery-red hair and differently-colored eyes, the right being green and the left blue, Eris would be hard pressed to blend in with the crowd. Her hair is fairly long in length, and she normally likes to braid small sections of it, this being a more modern take on a well-known high-class Cassian hairstyle. Her facial features are soft and elegant, and her hairs are ever-so-slightly pointed at the very tips.
Eris is somewhat tall, standing at 5’8”, and she confirms to her peoples’ strict expectations of what is considered a healthy and attractive body weight, currently at 112 lbs. She will occasionally visit the gym to tone up, though she rarely lifts weights, which gives her a physically fit but altogether boney appearance.
She has a white tattoo that looks more like a scare of magic rune on the underside of her left wrist. It is a symbol that any Esper would recognize.
Aesthetic Tastes:
Like her family, Eris has rather expensive taste and is used to getting what she wants, being that she was spoiled as an only child. Therefore, nothing (to her) is out of her price range, and she typically can be seen wearing the latest in Cassus fashion. Her favorite complementary colors for her hair and skin tone are green, yellow, and black (though not always together). She does accessorize when not out on the field, usually wearing necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. If working, she normally sports something much more practical, such as a light uniform and boots.
Personality:
Eris is very individualistic and has strong personality. In keeping with Vigilant Church doctrine, she is one of the believers in the glory of the empire and the emperor's divine right to the legacy of the Eldan. Like other Cassian’s, she is quite proud, and it’s hard for her to admit when wrong, though she always has made it a goal to remain truthful to herself and admit her mistakes inwardly, if not always outloud. Although she is not one to follow the crowd, that doesn’t make her a leader. Instead, she’s more like a pioneer, paving a unique way that may not have ever been taken before, often setting a course all on her own. She typically has quite a cool temperament and a fair amount of emotional control, though this may make her appear somewhat detached and aloof.
She is in constant search of wisdom and is a very observant person, able to gather information objectively because her emotions don’t get in the way. She, at times, seems to be above emotions altogether when she speaks, most often speaking facts, which can seem both shocking and blunt at times, though she’s rarely aware of it and usually never intends to do harm. A visionary, unconventional in most all aspects, and intellectually independent, Eris deviates from the crowd. She is passionate about knowledge and is constantly looking to expand her mind, which leads her down some adventurous routes and often sets her on her own lonesome path, not that she typically minds, perfectly happy with just her pets or Scan-Bot at her side.
Although she tries to uphold her exterior image of aristocratic elegance, she can easily let her true nature shine through, which is much more on the side of science nerd and sci-fi dork. When she can help it, she usually tries to consciously hide this side to her personality, as it is quite far from the proud image of the typical Cassian in their society.
Transportation:
Uniblade
Alien Velocirex named Velox (which means “swift”)
Starship Elysium
Motivation and Goals:
Her biggest personal goal is to discover the whereabouts of the lost Eldan and to meet them face to face. If such a lofty objective cannot be achieved, she would at least like to learn what happened to them. She also hopes to reveal the secrets of their great and powerful civilization and technology and just how they managed to ascend to godhood and what exactly that means. As a scientist for The Royal Collegium, she is constantly out on the field in pursuit of knowledge, and she is dedicated to studying the unique flora and fauna on Nexus, the exotic elements, and the ancient ruins. Her biggest passions are the wildlife (both natural and unnatural), and she’s been known to tame a few pets on her travels (for study and research, of course!).
Biography:
Eris Volare was born on planet Nexus in the city of Ilium as an only child and raised in the highest of Cassian society. Born after Nexus had been discovered, she has only visited her people’s home world of Cassus a handful of times, and though she finds it pleasant there, being surrounded by so many other humans, she has always been in love with Nexus and all its beauty and mysteries - her true home.
Her parents both came from High Families. Her father, Marsellus, serves the Vigilant Church’s Radiant Legion. His service keeps him preoccupied and often times away from his family for long periods, so Eris never knew her father on a very deep, personal level. He most frequently can be found defending the Lightreach Mission settlement, if not deployed on important missions. Eris’s mother, Arkein, is a skilled pilot who serves the Dominion Fleet in her starship, Radiance. Though neither of her parents could be there much for her growing up due to their duties (leaving their handmaiden to help raise Eris), Eris’s mother made more time for her than her father. Arkein especially devoted time to Eris when when Eris got older, even teaching her how to pilot a ship and to become fairly skilled at maneuvering, both in the atmosphere and through space.
Eris’s biggest role model and someone that she has always admired is Tresayne Toria, which may be due in part to always having had stared wide-eyed up at her picturesque statue in Fate’s Landing. Tresayne was adored by Eris as both a strong female figure and the mother to Dominus, the first Eldan-human hybrid. In some ways, especially as a kid, Eris had wished that she could have been Tresayne, and would often take on her role when playing with other Cassian children in Illum. After learning what happened to Tresayne regarding Vitara, the Primal of Life, Eris grew intrigued by the six primal powers, and particularly Exanite, the rarest of substances that is pure white in color and a perfect balance of all six primal powers. This, in turn, has lead her to study the Mechari even further, examining their cores (which take on a color related to their most dominant power, being impure Exanites). Eris hopes to one day find one of the Eldan’s Exanites.
Ohmna, an Eldan from the Order of Progenitors who was in charge of creating new life on Nexus and who treated her creations with compassion, is a favorite of Eris’s. Though all the Eldan equally hold much in the way of allure and devotion from Eris, Ohmna stands out to her, perhaps because of her love of animals and her conflicting nature when it came to being a respected Progenitor and dealing with her own personal feelings. This is reflected in Eris, since Eris is a dedicated scientist, yet her love of wildlife and her sometimes selfish desires to meet the Eldan at any cost can distract from her duties.
Being a scientist for The Royal Collegium, Eris has come to discover that Nexus secrets may not always lie in the hands of the Dominion and that many Eldan artifacts and knowledge have been unjustifiably taken by the Exiles, who no more deserve them (in her opinion) than the Pell. Therefore, Eris has taken it upon herself to adopt a second persona, or rather an alias, so as to infiltrate the Exile territories on Nexus to procure their stolen Eldan knowledge. Her alternate alias that she goes by is Solarfly, a name she adopted due to her hot-as-the-sun red hair and her love of heights and being up in an starship. Because it is common for human Exile surnames to be two words put together, Solarfly was perfect. Under this guise, Eris claims that she works for the Exile Academy of Science (XAS), which she’s able to play off quite perfectly, being that the organization’s goals and objectives correspond directly to her work for The Royal Collegium. Her only issue that she’s had to work tirelessly on was speaking with an Exile accent, which was far easier in her mind when she formulated this undercover plan than it was in practice. Eventually though, she got the hang of it, though she quite detested ever speaking in such a foul, twangy, working-class accent.
Though there are few, if any, lengths Eris will not go when it comes to her research, especially regarding the Eldan, and the fact that she is continuously switching between aliases to suit the situation in order to obtain what she desires, Eris isn’t altogether an evil person, per-se. She’s simply interested in knowledge and acquiring it by any means possible. Despite her young age, she's very ambitious and willing to go the extra mile for her cause.
